The Regional Musaceae Priority Diseases – Diagnostics and Surveillance Workshop was held from the 15th April 2024 to 19th April 2024 at UWI Mona Jamaica Campus and featured a wealth of presentations relating to Diagnostics and Surveillance of diseases of Musaceae.
The objectives of the workshop were:
- Education and Awareness: Disseminate knowledge about Moko, TR4, BBTV and BBrMV, its symptoms, transmission, and impact on Musaceae.
- Training in Diagnostics: Equip participants with hands-on experience in Moko, TR4, BBTV and BBrMV detection techniques, including recognition of symptoms in the field, collection of samples and laboratory-based assays.
- Sampling and Surveillance Strategies: Develop effective harmonized surveillance protocol tailored to the Caribbean context to monitor and manage Moko, TR4, BBTV and BBrMV outbreaks.
The workshop was well attended by representatives from the CPHD Forum’s member countries.
