Mr. Naitram Ramnanan, popularly known as Bob, joined the Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences (CABI) in 2009 to manage a regional invasive species project as regional coordinator at the then Centre for Latin America and the Caribbean. In 2012, the centre was split with the opening of an office in Brazil. Bob then assumed the role of CABI’s Regional Representative for the Caribbean and Central America. CABI has been a founding member of the Caribbean Plant Health Directors Forum. In September 2018 he began coordinating a second Invasive Species project for the OECS sub region.
He has considerable expertise in agricultural development, specifically in monitoring and evaluating projects, information, communication, public relations and training. This was gained over a 15 year period at both the Inter American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the National Marketing and Development Corporation (NAMDEVCO).
Bob also the chairs of the Regional Pest Prioritization Working Group and is a member of the Caribbean Pest Diagnostic Working. He holds a BSc in Agronomy from UWI and an MPhil in Soil Science and has a post graduate diploma in development oriented agricultural research from the International Centre for development oriented Research in Agriculture (ICRA) based in Wageningen, The Netherlands.
